About Indiana Wells

i make work about my experience of living and dying and living; my work is apart of the language necessary to realize the folk song it is to be alive. this ranges from poems and pictures focused on the rituals of our existence, to vulnerable performance and video. photography and poetry are the mediums i’m in the closest relationship to because they are both magic that can make anything seem real and also speak what is already real into existence. my political identity as a queer black person is a large part of my work, and it motivates me to make work for my people that gives us a way to dream, so that we may know what it looks like to be free
